Register 365 Shared Hosting Issue

Update 02 Jan 09 9:04 AM - Update: Most traffic has now been blackholed with our upstreams. However we are still sustaining in excess of 1.3gbps of inbound attack. Almost all services are now fully restored although some customers may experience higher latency than normal while we complete the lock down.

Update: Traffic levels are reducing as we work to blackhole the attack with our upstream providers. Only the target server and servers uplinked in the same cabinet are currently impacted.

Update: All services are back to normal.

Please accept our thanks for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience, unfortunately, attacks such as these are more and more a fact of life for larger, or higher profile sites.

There's an ongoing multi-gigabit packet flood against shared hosting servers, resulting in a very
small number of Register365 customers experiencing difficulties accessing their websites.

Our engineers are doing everything they can to reduce the impact this is having on our shared hosting services.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

E-mail collection issues

We are currently experiencing very high load on our mail cluster at specific times during the day. This can potentially cause slow connections to Webmail. The times that this occurs are at exactly 0, 15, 30 and 45 minutes past each hour and appears to be due to a spike of traffic at these times, lasting for approximately 90 seconds. We are currently investigating this and will attempt to rectify as soon as possible.

In order to avoid this issue, please try to avoid using Webmail at these exact times and your experience will be significantly better.

Xsession Hosting - Emergency Weekend Maintenance

Update 16 Feb 08 10:58 PM -
We have been advised by the supplier of connectivity to our Xsession hosting customers, that the planned emergency repair work which was scheduled to start on 16/02/2008 19:00 was brought forward and started yesterday (15/02/2008 19:00), it was completed today (16/02/2008 10:00).

We are waiting for more information from our upstream carriers, to find
out why the maintenance work was carried out earlier than scheduled. We will notify you as soon as we find out.

Please accept our apologies for this and any inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately this was beyond our control.

We have been advised by the supplier of connectivity to our Xsession hosting customers, that their supplier is carrying out emergency maintenance to repair a damaged fiber optic connection this weekend.

The window for this work is 16/02/2008 19:00 to 17/02/2008 19:00 (this includes preparation time). They have advised that the actual downtime should be much less in reality. The fiber will be cut at around midnight and should be fully restored well before 07:00 on 17 February and therefore we are expecting any outage to be limited to overnight.

We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by this interruption to service.

Please note: This outage will only affect web hosting customers of Xsession.com and not other Namesco products. We will shortly be transferring Xsession hosting onto our own resilient network and hosting cluster where the service is fully protected against this type of maintenance and fault.
