How to set up email within Thunderbird (POP / SMTP)
- Open Thunderbird
- Select the Tools menu then Account Settings
- Click on Account Actions then select Add Mail Account
- Enter Your Name, Email address and Password then click Continue
- Your Incoming settings need to be configured to IMAP, imap.hosts.co.uk, Port 143. SSL should be set to None and Authentication should be set to Normal password
- If you have purchased Authenticated SMTP Access, your Outgoing SMTP settings should be; smtp.hosts.co.uk, Port: 587, SSL: None, Authentication: Normal password. If you have not purchased Authenticated SMTP Access you will need to use your internet providers details
- Click Create Account
- Thunderbird will create an account using a secure connection as default. This is not necessary and you can safely click I understand the risks then Create Account
- To change your SMTP settings, select Outgoing server (SMTP), then click Add
- Enter your SMTP details. If you have purchased Authenticated SMTP Access your SMTP settings will be; Server Name smtp.hosts.co.uk, Port 587, Connection security None, Authentication method Password and your Username.
- Remember, if you have not purchased Authenticated SMTP Access, you will need to use your internet providers details.
- Click Ok then Ok on the Account settings screen
